Fifteen business and social entrepreneurs have been selected
as finalists in this year's Indonesia Entrepreneur of the Year Awards,
in which six awards are up for grabs, the competition's main sponsor,
Ernst & Young, said Thursday.
The recipient of one of the awards, Indonesian Entrepreneur of the Year
2006, will joint top entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries in Monte
Carlo, Monaco, in June 2007 for the annual World Entrepreneur of the
Year awards, a media statement from Ernst & Young said.
The recipient of the Social Entrepreneur of the Year award, meanwhile,
would be invited to attend the Social Entrepreneurs Summit to be held
in Zurich in January next year.
In announcing the 2006 finalists, program host John Arnold said,
"Through this program, we acknowledge the great wealth of
entrepreneurial talent shaping Indonesia's future. The stories told by
the men and women coming through are inspirational and their places as
finalists are truly deserved."
The top business entrepreneurs include Anton Setiawan of PT Tunas
Ridean, Hary Tanoesoedibjo of PT Bimantara Citra, Herman Moeliana of PT
United Chemical Group, Jacobus Busono of the Pura Group, Josephine W.
Komara of PT Binkomara Huma, Rudy A. Wuwungan of PT Maskapai Reasuransi
Indonesia, Subiakto Priosoedarsono of PT Hotline Advertising, Sudiarso
Presetio of PT Pamapersada Nusantara, Sudjono Barak Rimba of PT Centra
Lingga Perkasa, Pop Mulhadi of CV Taurus Gemilang and Tahir of the
Mayapada Group.
Meanwhile, in the social entrepreneur category, the nominees include
Asep Sulaiman Sabanda of PT Santika Duta Nusantara, Bambang Ismawan of
the Bina Swadaya foundation and Didier Perez of PT PIPA.
"We are delighted to recognize the significant accomplishments of these
people who have successfully built not only top performing
organizations, but have also developed markets both nationally and
globally," added Arnold.
Since Ernst & Young's global program was launched in Indonesia in
2001, 88 leading Indonesian entrepreneurs have so far been recognized
for their work.
In Indonesia, the Ernst & Young program partners are Credit Suisse,
Lufthansa German Airlines, Metro TV, Trijaya FM, Investor Magazine and
the Financial Club Jakarta.
